Assignment Topic: What is the Role of the people in the Texas Political System?
What role do the people have in State Government? There are ways for them to interact and influence
elected officials. Key elements to address in your presentation include: the people’s role within public
opinion, interest groups, and political parties; how do elections effect those in Government, is it in a good
way or a bad way, When it comes to political participation what are the rights and responsibilities of
citizens; address any key issues and/or policies that are important to you.
Due Dates:
• The Project must be submitted in the D2 L Dropbox.
Purpose: The purpose of the project is to give you an opportunity to discuss key political science concepts,
and to show a basic understanding of academic research and reporting skills.
Skills: The purpose of this assignment is to help you practice the following skills that are essential to your
success in school and your professional life beyond school.
• Verbal/Communication – providing a 10 – 15-minute presentation will prepare you for future education and
work opportunities.
• Critical Thinking – to include creative thinking, innovation, inquiry, and analysis, evaluation and synthesis of
information.
• Written – using writing conventions including but not limited to complete sentences, grammatically correct
statements, correct spelling, correct verb tense, etc.
• Integration of Key elements – demonstrates clarity and flow.
• Citations/referencing – APA standards
• Analysis – Creating a thesis statement and support of conclusions.
