In detail, using “Anthropology Today, The Illegality Industry” (Kottak 132-133), explain why “building walls” may not be an effective way to “secure” American borders. Also, include in this discussion: 1) Mackenzie’s article (“On the Road Again”) and the evidence that suggests that migration should not even be considered a security issue or a “crisis”; also include, 2) How the concept of “hegemony” as a form of social control might play a role in framing immigration as a “crisis” in Western nation states (See Kottak 128-129). Finally and briefly, after viewing Dau’s TedTalk, “A Lost Boy Finds His Purpose,” what did you find most compelling about his struggles as a refugee and/or his triumphs as a global citizen?
