In your opinion, what (1) factor was most important in causing the American Revolution?
Your thesis will answer this question by naming (1) key factor and will explain how that factor led to the outbreak of the American Revolution. Your thesis (naming 1 key factor) should be followed by a sentence that includes 3 relevant support points to the factor you named in your thesis. Your thesis should be toward the end of your introduction.
Your three supporting points from your roadmap should be the subjects of the (3) main sections of your essay and of your topic sentences.

General 1. Construct a thesis-driven argument and support your position with specific examples.

The major factor in causing the American Revolutionary War was the colonists feeling as if they had little to no economic freedom.
The colonists desire for individual freedom and independence conflicted with the British policies that restricted the colonies thus creating tension.
The colonists believed in freedom. The British tried controlling their economy through laws such as the stamp act, sugar act, and tea act. The colonists seen this as a violation of their basic rights. The British implemented these laws without giving the colonists representation in Parliament. British troops being present in the colonies added to the already growing frustration. These things caused resentment among the colonists. The colonists began to organize and resist British authority. Which led to the American Revolutionary War.
