Explanation: In retrospect, the flu pandemic of 1918 was a relatively minor bump in the road for an industry that was growing exponentially in the wake of World War I. Our present pandemic (Covid-19) threatens to have much deeper and lasting impacts on the industry, even once our vaccines (*knock on wood*) or nature gets us back to a sense of normal.
Examine how film production has changed in Hollywood—not just in the sense of how on-set work has changed, but also how development, financing, union negotiations, and other nuts- and-bolts parts of the industry may be different. We already see how production schedules have changed, but what will the long-term impacts be? Or is this another bump in the road that will iron itself out in a couple of years?
