In this task you are asked to design and evaluate a teaching strategy, activity or resource to improve student learning in your subject-specialist area. You are not expected to have trialled this in practice. (1300 words)
Part A – Produce evidence of the strategy, activity or resource (equivalent to 450 words)
This may consist of:
• A written outline of the activity or strategy
• A copy of the resource itself or photographic evidence, depending on the nature of the resource.
Part B – Write an account of the activity or resource in which you justify and evaluate it in relation to research-informed principles of teaching, learning and assessment. (850 words). 3|
In your account you should:
• Discuss how the strategy, activity or resource fits into a specific programme of study, course or qualification.
• Discuss how theories, principles and models of learning and communication have informed the strategy, activity or resource you have designed.
• Explain how your strategy, activity or resource would allow you to assess learning.
• Discuss how you believe this activity or resource will contribute to student learning and motivation in your subject-specialist area.
Task 2 – Curriculum LO4 – To demonstrate the use of theories and models of curriculum development within own area of specialism.
Prepare a 10-minute presentation to be delivered to your peers demonstrating analysis and application of theories and models of curriculum to your own subject specialist area.
In this presentation we would like you to:
• show an understanding of definitions and ideologies of curriculum.
• evaluate models and principles of curriculum design and apply these to your subject area.
• Consider potential developments to your curriculum in line with the theories and models. Task 3 – Reflection • Write a short account discussing the role of reflective practice in teacher development. (500 words)
