What is an example of a public interest group, and how can one write a research paper detailing it?
Throughout the course of American politics, organized interest groups have played a role in not only determining who runs for public office, but also who ultimately wins. As we have discussed in class, organized interest groups seek to provide representation for groups that complement the geographic representation provided by elected officials. These groups may help bring attention to issues and educate citizens about what their government is doing and how it impacts their lives. Organized interest groups also play a role in keeping a watchful eye on the many large bureaucratic agencies and small agencies that do much of the work governing in a state.
