For this essay assignment, you should reflect on the most interesting/important argument/feature you’ve learned so far about the Congress. Make this issue the topic of your essay. Make sure you develop a specific main argument sentence before you begin outlining your paper. Write an introductory paragraph that leads up to your main argument sentence (thesis) as the last sentence of that first paragraph. This is not a research paper, it is an essay. That means you do not need outside sources. If you reference our text or any of the scholars we’ve looked at, simply refer to them by name. If you use outside sources, you’ll need proper citation. To be clear- I am not assigning you an argument... you are picking one of the issues we’ve discussed and arguing whatever you want. Just make sure you are being very specific and clear with your position. Other basic parameters: length 3 pages (not 2.5 not 4…3 exactly! Writing to length is a skill to develop), double-spaced, times new roman 12 point font. Do not use the first-person voice, use third-person objective. State your argument as fact. One last piece of advice: start with a good main argument, then write the body of the essay, then write your intro paragraph last. I’ve attached some scholars we have learned about. The book we have in class we have read up to Chapter 7 it is called The American Congress 9th edition
