Using the required readings, in a Word document, construct a table like the example shown below that connects examples of maladaptive SEL (in Growing Up Dyslexic) to the core SEL competencies from CASEL (in CASEL’s SEL Framework) that students with LBLD need to develop.
I just wanted to clarify a couple of things about this week’s assignment.
1. When you create the table be sure to INCLUDE YOUR RATIONALE for choosing the particular competencies in the 2nd column. This can be a very brief (1-2 sentences) as to why the competency relates to the identified behavior. Here’s an example:

The introduction to this assignment doesn’t specify this, but if you review the assignment guidelines and rubric you’ll see the requirement.
Specifically the following critical elements must be addressed:
I. Examples of Maladaptive SEL. Construct a two-column table connecting the examples of maladaptive SEL traits from the reading “Growing Up Dyslexic” to the core SEL competencies in “Social and Emotional Learning Core Competencies.” Mention at least five maladaptive SEL traits from the article in column 1. In column 2, identify the core competency and provide a rationale of why you chose it.
II. Core Competencies. In column 2 of your table, provide the corresponding core competency and provide rationale
2. The assignment requirements state that you must include “at least three sources cited in APA format”. Given the nature of this assignment, you only need to cite the two course articles.
