1- Performance Response Paper • Due Dec 17 by 11:59pm • Points 30 • Submitting on paper • Available after Dec 5 at 11:59pm For this assignment students are expected to view a live dance concert and write a concert critique. Per the course syllabus, this paper could be emailed to the instructor at any point throughout the semester, however, students have until the final week to hand this assignment in. Since viewing a live dance concert in the summer can be difficult as there are not a lot of performances to attend, I have included in the modules a few full dance performance videos. They are listed as ″for your viewing pleasure″. Students are allowed to use one of the these videos or another full performance of their choice to write their paper. Paper should be at least 1 page in length and typed in a Word Document and emailed to the instructor by the due date. Things to consider when writing your paper: How did the dance make you feel? Did it make you excited, happy, sad or emotional, confused or perhaps uncomfortable? Discuss the music, choreography, lighting, costumes, stage set, props etc. Who was the choreographer of the work? What was the dance about? What style of dance was it? 2-PowerPoint Presentations No unread replies. No replies. For this assignment students should research a choreographer, social dance, or dance style of their choice and create a PowerPoint or Prezi providing their research. These should be similar to the power-points provided in this course. These will take the place of formal on campus presentations. There should be a works cited slide included in your presentation. Since this is an assignment due in the final week it will NOT be accepted late. All of the other discussions are left open and have the ability to be turned in late, receiving deducted points, however, this assignment must be submitted by the deadline of Thursday July 16th by 11:59pm or a zero will be given. This assignment is worth 80 points total so be sure to observe the due date! Also, feel free to be creative with this assignment. As it is still considered a presentation, though virtually, students may choose to video themselves presenting their research along with their PowerPoint presentation. There are quite a few different dance works in the concert. If you have not yet completed the Dance Response assignment this is your last opportunity to do so before it is due.
