Preparation Task: Review textbook chapters that cover the topics of performance management (Chapter 15) and interventions on career planning, development (Chapter 16), workforce diversity, inclusion, stress, and wellness (Chapter 17).
Assignment
Step 1. Read the case Designing and Implementing a Reward System at Disc Drives, Inc (p. 523-527). Be sure to take notes on the approaches taken toward the changes organizational structure and management processes.
Step 2. Using your notes and what you have learned this week, answer the following questions and ensure to support your claims and assertions using citations:
• Describe the features of a system you would recommend for the performance management system. What changes need to be made in the goal setting, feedback/appraisal, and reward systems at DDI? Be specific about the features of the system(s) you believe need to be changed and the characteristics of the system itself. Focus on the characteristics of the reward system that are required to fit or align with the strategy, structure, and management processes.
• Describe the change management process you would use to design and implement the new system. What roles and responsibilities should the executive team take on? How fast should the system be implemented?
