In this assignment, you choose one of the case studies we examine in this course (South Africa, Guatemala, Northern Ireland, Canada, Community Conflict Resolution or any other topic you want to examine) and apply the thesis of the course to the case study.
– The thesis is: If religion played a significant part in people’s lives, and if religion played a part in fuelling the conflict, then when resolving the conflict, religion must be at least taken into account, for without this consideration, peacekeepers, diplomats and mediators not only fail to deal with the fundamentals of the conflict, but they also miss potential peacebuilding resources in the religious traditions themselves.
– The are two parts of this essay:
1) Describe how the case study you have chosen is an example of religious conflict
resolution.
2) Provide analysis) as to how religion did or could play a role in the conflict resolution
process.
– You will be required to go beyond the reading we did in this course for your research.
You should have at least 4 other scholarly sources to draw on for your descriiption and analysis.
The length of this research paper will be a minimum of 1000 words (12 point font = 2 pages single spaced or 4 pages double spaced) to a maximum of 1500 words (12 point font = 3 pages single spaced or 6 pages double spaced)
