Lord Polonius′ servant, Reynaldo, is instructed to spy on his son, Laertes, who had left for Paris when Act II began. In order to track Laertes and find out exactly what he has been doing,Polinius gives Reynaldo very specific instructions. Hamlet then explicitly refers to Denmark as a prison, and Rosencrantz And Guildenstern inquire about Hamlet′s assessment of the nation. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern then assert that Hamlet′s views on Denmark are signs of his ambition. 4.
