Purpose: Communication is an essential skill for community/public health professionals. Through this assignment, you will write an opinion-editorial (op-ed) based on a timely community health topic that interests you. By completing activity, you should be able to: Clearly and persuasively share your opinion about a community health issue that is meaningful to you Offer specific recommendations about how to improve this community health issue Use your personal voice to link your topic to a timely event (e.g., something happening in the news, a holiday) To complete this activity: Select a community health issue that is of interest to you and is timely. Prioritize an issue that is local to either the Boston area or your hometown Convey to readers why this issue matters. You may find it helpful to use first-person language to do so (e.g., “As a community health student…”) Share your opinion and recommendations about how to address this issue. Keep in mind that opinions should be well-formulated and backed by research In-text citations are not necessary.
