PART 2—-

Goal
Now that you have finished your Resume, you are ready to create your personal brand or your online brand which starts with building a LinkedIn profile so you can start networking! LinkedIn is a professional website to showcase your talents. You will create a LinkedIn account for this week’s Discussion, share and connect with your peers and teachers. To receive full credit this week you will create your LinkedIn Profile that will include a headshot, headline, and “About Experience” and “‘Education” sections filled out. You will share your link in the discussion so that others can see your LinkedIn profile and connect with you. You will connect to at least two peers on LinkedIN and tell them in the discussion you have connected with them. I encourage you to connect with everyone as connections are important for your future career success and this is a way to keep in touch with everyone after this class is over.
The term “personal brand” refers to how people perceive you based on your skills, experience, how you treat people and other information about you. Your “online brand” is the story you tell about yourself through your application materials, social media and any other mentions of you online. When creating your LinkedIn profile think about:
What past school projects or work samples would you be proud to show your future employer?
What information about you is currently visible? Google your name, and visit all your social media accounts. Should any of them be set to private? I encourage you to keep a good image on your social media for your future success in your career and life.
