Present an argument recommending the play as relevant, instructive, or necessary to read in our time in light of a current, real-life social issue or controversy. Begin by brainstorming– consider what real-life issue(s) the play raises or reflects (either directly or indirectly). Think also in terms of what you think present and future audiences of students may need/want to read or benefit somehow from reading/studying. For example, does the play provide some sort of insight into today’s controversies? Does it provide some sort of insight for personal development or growth? Does it present a familiar story in an unexpected way? Does it include an image or metaphor that is particularly striking or illuminating for a specific issue?
