Time to get more familiar with governors. Pick a governor of a state, any state. Don’t all use NY, chose some other state you want to learn about.
Then do the following: tell me who he or she is and how long they have been in office. Republican or Democrat?
How long are their terms, and can they run for re-election.
What powers do they have?
Who can they appoint?
Do they have veto power, power over the budget?
What got them elected in the first place, an informal skill, a connection, tell me about it.
I have this assignment in my traditional class and students often say they couldn’t find the info.
Then, I get on the ‘net and find it in a few minutes. Look it up, get out there, find your info.
Build me a good profile of a governor in just a page or so, and bring that person to life. Be succinct but precise.
