Continue to place yourself in the role of the newly elected Sheriff of Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office which is the Law Enforcement Agency serving Duval County, Florida. As the Sheriff consider the following: a citizens group has requested a permit for a peaceful march, on May 25th (the anniversary of George Floyd’s death) ending in a rally in front of City Hall, to protest against the book ban and to promote social justice awareness in the wake of the Tyre Nichols event. You, as the Sheriff must determine whether or not you will grant the permit.

1. Will you issue the permit, why or why not?
2. What types of plans and considerations must you take in terms of the protest and possibility of counter protesters I.e. staffing levels, emergency resources, equipment, training, etc…
