Assignment Question

You have learned a lot about organizations and work styles in this class, and now it is time to reflect on what you’ve learned and translate this into action. This reflection paper aims to consider what you believe it takes to make an organization successful and then apply this to Bentley’s goal of helping businesses do good. In this paper, you will design your “perfect organization.” (It can be for-profit or not-for-profit; either works.)

Questions to consider as you prepare include: How will you design your organization’s structure and why? What will the culture be, and how will it impact your bottom line? How will your organization impact the world? This is the time to dream big, be bold in your choices, and consider how to do it differently to build a stronger and healthier organization.

Use the following outline to structure your paper. Sections of Your Paper

Section 1 – Define your organizational structure and why you designed it the way you did. Include topics such as employee motivation, conflict resolution, diversity, equity and inclusion, team dynamics, and corporate culture. Tie all topics back to readings, class discussions, videos from the class, and teamwork. You must include at least 3 topics in your paper; each topic you cover must have at least one formally cited fact from outside sources to support your reasoning. In addition, you can use as many references to the textbook as you want to back up your thesis.

Section 2 – Compare: How does your perfect organization differ from the organization outlined in your final presentation, and why? What would you do differently, and how would this impact your organization for the better? You must have a minimum of two formally cited facts from outside the textbook. In addition, you can use as many references to the textbook as you want to back up your thesis.

Section 3 – Real World: Tie your perfect organization back to real life. What would the world be like if all organizations were built using the strengths of people in mind? What if appropriate conflict resolution was central to an organization’s culture? How would a strong leader manage their organization to success? Envision how this could change people, companies, communities, and governments. No sources are necessary here. This is where you dream about making the world a better place.

Evaluation and Grade for Your Paper: The thoroughness of your reflection is critical to your paper.

You must have a minimum of 5 outside sources cited in your paper. All sources (textbook or outside sources) must be properly cited in APA format. Requirements: Double-spaced, 12 pt. font, estimated 3-5 pages in length (can be longer if needed), page numbers provided. Use only legitimate sources.
