FELLOW STUDENTS POST
Discuss violence in the workplace.
Workplace violence is any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, bullying, bullying or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs in the workplace. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide. It can affect and involve employees, customers and visitors. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the 5333 fatal workplace injuries that occurred in the United States in 2019, 761 were cases of intentional injury by another person. Workplace violence, like any other type of violence, is a major concern for society. Many U.S. workers report being victims of workplace violence each year; unfortunately, many more cases go unreported due to fear or embarrassment. There are many factors that can increase the risk of violence for some workers in certain workplaces. Such factors include exchanging money with the public and working with volatile and unstable people. In most workplaces where risk factors can be identified, the risk of aggression can be prevented or minimized if employers take appropriate precautions. One of the best protections employers can offer their workers is to establish a workplace safety policy. This policy should cover all workers, patients, customers, clients, visitors, contractors and anyone else who may come into contact with company personnel.
