What am I required to do in this assignment?
Cultural tourism is one of the largest and fastest-growing global tourism markets. Culture is increasingly being used to promote destinations and enhance their competitiveness and attractiveness. Many locations are now actively developing their tangible and intangible cultural assets as a means of developing comparative advantages in an increasingly competitive tourism marketplace, and to create local distinctiveness in the face of globalisation.
You are required to write an individual 1,500-word report that provides an analysis of the value of cultural tourism as a means for destination development at a local level (using a case study of your choice).
You are to identify a specific destination that promotes their culture and/or heritage and critically discuss how it reflects their local culture and/or heritage.
Are there any issues involved in using these cultural asset(s) for tourism purposes?

All travel involves a cultural element. This unit provides a critical insight into the complexity of cultural tourism and its increasing globalisation in existing as well as emergent destinations around the world. Sessions on this unit cover, for example: demand and motivation for cultural tourism, tourism destination strategies: localised cultural products and innovative global attractions. Both particularly relate to this assessment task.
