MTH 161 Project 40 Points Total In this project, you will first choose a context from the attached sheet and write a short, typed paper (500 words at least and 700 words at most) analyzing that function and contextualizing the half-life/doubling time of the function using logarithms. This is not a group project in that it is to be done individually (tutors from the Writing Center/ARC can be utilized as it is a service rendered by the college to its students). You will see eight separate instances of exponential functions used to model natural phenomena. Select the one you prefer most, and you will be writing a two-page paper (double spaced with conventional margin sizes) that needs to discuss the following: 1.) Why you chose the application you selected. 2.) State and explain the contextual significance of the initial value and growth/decay factor (using percentages) of the model given. 3.) State and explain the contextual significance of the horizontal asymptote of the model given. 4.) Use logarithms to compute the half-life (in the case of exponential decay) or doubling time (in the case of exponential growth) and explain the contextual significance of this value. (The computation “scratchwork” should be included either in the PDF file of the paper or should be submitted as a separate image file).
