Community Policy Practice Research– 30% of your grade Students are required to assess a major issue of concern in the local community. The research must include data and information from the local community including the following: • The scope of the issue- 15 points • History of the problems- 20 points • Populations that are directly or indirectly impacted by the issue- 5 points • Laws, current pending legislation, policies, programs that address the issue- 10 points • Individuals, groups or organizations involved in developing solutions to the issue- 10 points • Role of social workers in addressing the problems related to this issue and proposing solutions to the identified issue including fiscal and social resources.- 20 points • Advocacy strategies for various constituents in addressing the community need- 10 points
