: Goal Apply two major psychological theories to answer a question about human behavior.
Directions:
1)Everyone will select one of the following questions. You will research the question and apply two psychological theories to answer the question.
Questions:
1)Why does genocide happen?
2)What causes anxiety and how is it treated?
3) Why do people believe in conspiracy theories?
2)Apply two of the following psychological theories to answer the question you selected.
Theories
Behavioral/Learning Theory
Cognitive Theory
Psychobiology Theory
Humanistic Theory
Evolutionary Theory
Psychodynamic Theory
Sociocultural Theory
3) Explain your positions. After discussing the potential answers to the question through a thorough application of two theories, form conclusions based on the theories you presented. What is your position? What theory best answers the question? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each theory, as it applies to this question?
4)All papers must discuss outcomes. Expand beyond your personal conclusions and further evaluate the information. What implications or impact do your conclusions have for psychologists or society at large? For example, do your conclusions suggest different areas for psychologists to investigate or study? Could your conclusions help society at large, or do your conclusions suggest dangers or warnings for society? What might be the economic, political, social, or educational implications of what you’ve concluded?
5) All papers must explore at least three ethical principles associated with the question. You may use the eight ethical principles presented by James Madison University, the APA code of ethics, or the Belmont Report.
Paper Requirements:
APA format is required, which means the paper must be double spaced, with one-inch margins,
and have a font of 12. All papers must cite a minimum of three outside sources using APA format; failure to use in-text citations for all reference materials will result in an automatic zero. Self-plagiarism will also result in a zero for this assignment. Each paper should be a minimum of four pages in length. There is no maximum page limit. The cover page and reference page will not count toward meeting minimum length requirements. This is a student paper, so do not include an abstract.
It is also expected that your paper will follow proper essay structure, which means the utilization of an introduction and conclusion. It should be free of spelling and grammar errors. See course calendar for specific due date. See the rubric for additional grading criteria. Ten percent will be deducted for each day the paper is late; no papers will be accepted after ten days from the due date.
Paper Submission:
All papers must be submitted electronically through the assignment link in our Week 13 folder. No paper will be accepted via email. Only papers submitted through Blackboard will be graded. All papers must be in .pdf or Word (.docx). Papers submitted in other
formats, such as google doc will receive a zero. It is your responsibility to review your
submission to confirm it loaded properly. If you can see your paper, I can see your paper. I will not download your paper. Your paper needs to be visible upon first viewing.
We will be using SafeAssign for this assignment, which is an antiplagiarism database. Once you submit your paper through the link in our Week 13 folder, SafeAssign generates a report
identifying areas that have potentially been plagiarized. Papers with a SafeAssign score of 45 or higher will receive an automatic zero. It is expected that you will review the SafeAssign and make the necessary changes to your paper to avoid accidentally committing an act of plagiarism. Plagiarism, which includes self-plagiarism, will also result in a zero. In addition to receiving a zero for the paper, there may be other academic consequences for plagiarism, e.g., a failing grade for this class, referral to the Dean for additional academic consequences.
