Develop a brochure for a primary care doctor’s office that discusses the dangers of opioid abuse. Employees from the doctor’s office have asked for the brochure as they commonly deal with patients who are seeking pain killers and may have been prescribed these opiates from another physician who will no longer prescribe drugs to the patient. The staff at this office wants a good resource to be able to hand out to their patients in those cases where they refuse to prescribe opioids. This brochure can be used by the patients after leaving the doctor’s office to learn more about opioids. It can also be used by the patient or their family members to help them seek treatment for opioid addiction. It is important to be able to “translate” the complex scientific information like the biochemistry of a substance into language that the typical patient can understand. This assignment will demonstrate your proficiency at this skill in “translation.”
Be sure to include the following information in your brochure:
The biochemistry of opioids in an understandable language for the general public
Statistics on opioid use, addiction, and overdose
Treatment options
Local and national resources for help (minimum of 3)
Graphics that attract your audience’s attention.
Length: Trifold, double-sided brochure (6 pages total)
References: Include a minimum of 3 scholarly resources.
