The first is a researched analysis of the film that you will use for your final research paper. This paper should be 3-5 pages in length and use at least 2 sources outside of sources provided in class. The second assignment is your final research paper that takes your film analysis and adds materialistic historiography to it. This will be discussed further throughout the course. The paper needs to be 10-12 pages in length (this includes the revised 3-5 page paper from your first assignment).
FINAL PAPER: Building on your film analysis, your final paper will bring in a researched discussion of the creation/marketing/reception of the film. You want to focus on what factors caused the film to change from its original fairy tale and how it does or does not fit the Disney formula with special attention to the female characters. In your conclusion, you should assume the role of reviewer and assess whether or not the film had a positive or negative impact on the audience in relation to the choices Disney made to the film’s story and characters.
