Write a short philosophical paper (4-5 full double-spaced pages in length). Use only the readings in your research and writing (not the internet or any other secondary sources)
Prompt to write about:
In your view, is the future real? That is, are there now true (or false) facts about what will happen, including what you will do, in the future? If the future is real, then does that imply that we do not have true freedom and responsibility? If the future is not real, then what exactly are we talking about when predict and plan for the
future? Be sure to explain how your view of the future compares with your view of the present and past. Finally, be sure to
compare your view of the future with both Aristotle and St. Augustine.
Grading Rubric (4 points each = 20 points total)
1. Topic: Clearly and compellingly addresses and answers relevant topics and questions.
2. Material: Good awareness and critical understanding of relevant texts and films.
3. Philosophical Originality: Independent argument, analogies, creativity and critical analysis.
4. Style: overall clarity, organization, useful citations and illustrations.
5. Mechanics: spelling, grammar, word-choice, sentence and paragraph structure.
Other than the basic info I have from the assignment description itself I can only suggest that an opposing viewpoint be addressed at some point (even if it is brief).
