Course will examine the theoretical approaches to eyewitness testimony and deal with questions
such as why identification is so important in crime investigations, what are the differences
between identification and recognition, the things you can control and the things you cannot
during the course of an investigative interview. We will examine the basic stages of memory
processing, the theories of face perception and memory, the concept of a cognitive interview and
whether or not investigators use hypnosis. Finally indicators of witness reliability will be
explored.
