1. What aspect of Reggio practice is closely aligned with Vygotsky’s theory? With Piaget? Describe in detail the theory and provide examples. 2. Unlike Montessori and Waldorf, in Reggio-inspired classrooms (that I visited, anyway), children were expected to stay with an activity for a long period of time (20-45 minutes, depending on a child’s age). When children want to switch activities before the allotted time is up, a teacher may negotiate a reduced time to provide some flexibility. But the teacher will still push them to stick with the activity longer than they would have wanted. What is the rationale behind this? How do you think this practice affects the child, their work, and the outcome (the product)? Do you agree or disagree with this method? Why or why not?
