In review, the evidence-based practice requirements are guidelines that can help facilities achieve magnet status. The five guidelines are transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, and new knowledge, innovations, and improvement (Clark M. L.,2006). It is a method that outlines what is needed for magnet recognition. The requirement is based on the growth and expertise of various institutions. Evidence-based practice is the basis for the increase in essential research and knowledge utilized in practice(Melnyk, B. M. & Fineout-Overholt, E.,2015). The organization I currently work for does not have magnet status. Having these guidelines prevent practices based on tradition, opinion, or ritual. It outlines a systematic process via validated clinical experience and expertise. To achieve magnet status organizations are compared to the standards. The company currently is in a class of its own for transformational leadership (Clark M. L.,2006). Since we are not just addressing current change in the industry. We as a company are working toward the future. Proof by looking at ways that patients can be more independent with care at home. There is room for improvement, but structural empowerment is available and emerging. There is an opportunity within the company for nursing leadership which includes advanced practice nurses. In the organization, I work the focus is community management of health. We work with internal and external providers to prevent adverse episodes and provide the best outcomes. There is room for growth and improvement in structural empowerment. There are nursing opportunities within the organization. We are still working on staff development to accomplish organizational goals. However, they seem to have come for being a new company. As a company, we have truly displayed exemplary professional practice within nursing. Each nurse plays the necessary role for patients. There are nurse practitioners who provide in-home care. There are also clinical nurse supervisors who manage zones of doctors, nurse care managers, nurse practitioners, and other medical support staff. Nurse care managers play the role of managing individual pods. The pod consists of a doctor a nurse practitioner, an ambassador, and a clinical coordinator. They each have defined roles that as interdisciplinary teamwork to create a caring environment for patients. New knowledge and innovations are developed at the company I work. The patients are referred to as Joe and Josephine. This gives the patient identity. As an organization, the model of care seems to be innovative. It is a building block for even more community services. We have dietitians and social workers and even behavioral health and palliative management programs. As an organization, the company seems to have the structure and process in place to adhere to evidence-based practice for nursing. Clark M. L. (2006).
