The big five personality traits are the best accepted and most commonly used model of personality in academic psychology. The big five come from the statistical study of responses to personality items. Take a personality assessment and then use your results and what you have learned about the big five traits to identify examples of how the traits are exhibited by your own behavior.

Choose one to take, or take more than one. Each will assess your agreement with approximately 50 questions selected to represent the Big Five personality traits. After completing the questionnaire you will be given a breakdown describing to what degree you appear to exhibit each of the five personality traits (openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism). Each test may present the results to you differently, so it can be beneficial to see it in different ways. The free results are just fine; please do not pay extra for more detailed results. If you do take multiple tests, your results should be consistent.

Which trait do you appear to exhibit most?
Which trait do you appear to exhibit least?
Apply your results using examples from personal experience.
For each of the five traits give an example from personal experience of a time that you have felt or acted in a way that depicts where you fall on the given trait. For traits where you ranked high you should give an example of being high on the scale for that quality, and for traits where you ranked low you should give an example of being low on the scale for that quality. If you fall very close to the middle you may want to consider giving two examples, one for high and one for low, since it is likely that you often display both.
