Read chapter 2 “why are media important” from our textbook, Media Literacy in Actionby Renee Hobbs. As you read, consider the following questions, and respond in the spaces provided before class on the due date.

1) In our textbook, Hobbs (2021) says that “Media are deeply intertwined with life, and for an increasing number of us, we live in media, rather than with media” (p. 35).
What do you think she meant by that? Do you think you live “in” or “with” media, and why?
2) What part of this chapter most surprised you and why (a fact you didn’t know, a perspective you’d never considered, or maybe an idea that you’d never heard)?
