The Why – The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate personal biases and preconceptions about substance use disorders. The journal is a way to evaluate your own personal biases while tracking your experience with new learning.
The Goals – This assignment will help you gain awareness about the impact of biases or stigma on this particularly population. It will assist with gaining awareness and empathy toward the population. Working with this population can sometimes be challenging which leads to some frustration at times. This frustration can lead to further biases and stigma and makes us less effective. Going through the process of recognizing signs of this can make us more effective.
Task: Your final journal entry needs to include a review your first entry of preconceptions of SUD. Discuss impact on these and summary of your overall experience. The final journal needs to be at least 1 page in length.
