The Field Education Reports (FERs) are to examine various aspects of your agency experience in relation to the CSWE Competencies. FER #3 is related to Competencies 3 and 5: advancing human rights and social, economic, and environmental justice and policy practice. Review policies that affect clients and service provision at your practicum agency.
Interview your supervisor or other staff at the agency to determine a specific local, state, or federal policy that affects your agency’s work. Then answer the following in a 1-2 APA page report:
Name the policy and provide a brief description.
How does the policy impact your agency’s work?
Does the policy help or hinder your agency’s clients and their access to services? In what ways? Give specific examples.
How does your agency negotiate, mediate, and advocate for clients? Give a specific example of how your agency might advocate for its clients to change or enhance a policy that has a negative impact.
