Compare and Contrast Short Essay
For this section, you are expected to compare the selected artworks and include the required information in the form of a brief essay that follows a logical order, without looking like a list, and shows insightful analysis. Try to incorporate and add more details analysis and insight. Include in this comparison essay names and dates of the artists. Be clear, persuasive, and specific.
1. Identification: Identify completely both works: authors, titles, medium, artistic periods.
2. Subject Matter (content) & cultrual context: Describe the subject matter of these works, analyze the inconography, and explain briefly the relevance and symbolism of the subject. Consider these questions when preparing your answer: What do these works represents? What is the symbolism/interpretation of these subjects? How are these works related to thier social, political, and cultural context? What is the genre or painting category of these works?
3. Formal analysis and style: Analyze and compare briefly the composition and formal elements of both works: compositions, arrangements of figures, space (use of perspective), color, light & dark, line, volume, etc. How do they differ? Identify the artistics styles of both works, and explain whaat features mark them as tpical of thier respective styles.
