Artist Report Guidelines
Select the topic of the report, i.e. the individual artist or group whom the report is about. Report on any artist or group EXCEPT: Artist(s) or group(s) known as “One-Hit Wonders.” Artist(s) or group(s) about whom information or recordings cannot be verified. Artist(s) or group(s) about whom not enough information exists to constitute a collegiate level report. Format Students must use a font that is equivalent in size to Times 12, and no smaller than the equivalent to Times 10. The body of the report must be a minimum of 1200 words. Title page, bibliography, and appendices do not count toward the word count. Students must use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation throughout the report. Photos, lists of songs and albums, lists of television appearances, and lists of movies should be placed in an appendix in the rear.
Required Sources/Citation
Students MAY NOT use Wikipedia as a source for this report. Bibliographies containing Wikipedia as a source will not be given credit, and will result in a minimum grade reduction of one (1) full letter grade for the report. Students must provide a bibliography of all sources. Bibliographies must follow the MLA (Modern Language Association) format, and be located at the end of the report. Footnotes and endnotes are not necessary for all citations. Only direct quotes need to be cited using endnotes. All websites and Internet resources must be cited. Academic Honesty It is expected that students put the report in “their own words” and not copy/paste different components of web pages to compile a report. Plan ahead! Do not wait until the last moment to begin your report – it will be difficult to be successful! All reports are run through a plagiarism-checking site that not only checks internet resources, but other student submissions. DO NOT copy things – re-arranging words in a sentence is still plagiarism.
