Assignment Question
The article provides students an example of a lesson plan completed with research studies working to with individuals who have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder. See Appendices: Page 69 – 117. No pre-group work required for this assignment. You can follow the format by using a table or simple agenda to describe the outline for each group session. For each group session, you will need to include at least 3 debriefing “open-ended” questions for each group session.
STUDENTS MUST INCLUDE 3 OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS FOR EACH SESSION: (1 – 4) CONNECTING IT TO A THERAPEUTIC FACTOR. THIS MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE OUTLINE SECTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT.
Remember the open-ended questions must be therapeutic in nature and not simply, “What did you all think about the video?” For example, Therapeutic Factor: Universality or Interpersonal input: Open-ended question: “Can everyone describe how your anxiety is interfering with your life – ?” Catharsis Open Ended question: “What can you tell me about your childhood where you began to experience anxiety?” Altruism open ended question: “Describe a time when you anxiety did not interfere, what strengths helped you?” Imparting information: open-ended question: “Can everyone share areas of concern where your anxiety feels uncontrollable or unmanaged? Interpersonal Input: “Nina, how are you feeling about the group saying they feel that you create your own barriers to recover?” One coping strategy must be introduced to the group based on your outline for the session chosen. For example, share your screen and provide a short handout with a coping strategy such as a grounding technique or positive self-talk.
