Narrative Photo Essay
Identify a narrative photo essay by a photographer who is not covered in the course content or your textbook that you would like to critique. This must be a nationally or internationally recognized photographer, not someone you have found on Flickr or someones blog. You must do your research and visit the local library if necessary. Post 2 3 paragraphs outlining your photographers intent and how it relates to the course content on narrative photography. You must reply to at least three of your classmates postings by the end of this unit.
Consider the following when providing your critique:
What is your interpretation of the theme and narrative, or message, of the series? What elements in the images add consistency and create the theme?
How do the individual pictures and their sequencing convey this?
What would happen visually and to the narrative if you re-sequenced the images?What kind of emotional impact did the images have on you?
As you describe your interpretation, support it with references to features of the pictures in the narrative.
