Ø As discussed in class, this type of essay is the most time-intensive essay you will work on. You need to manage your time wisely.
· Choose a topic related to your long-term career goal (Medical Esthetician and Beauty). Topic must be approved by both teacher and student.
· Once the topic is approved, write a research hypothesis. Hand in for review.
· Your essay needs the following:
Ø An introductory paragraph with the research hypothesis clearly evident.
Ø 3-4 body paragraphs that are clearly introduced with an effective topic sentence.
Ø Each body paragraph needs to have 2 citations.
Ø The overall citation count for your essay is 8-10. Citations cannot be a single source. For example, you will need to use effective research skills and make sure you use a variety of sources such as case studies, newspapers, magazines, books, government reports, trade/industry publications etc. Whatever source is used, please use class notes and apply the C.R.A.P. test to ensure all sources meet the criteria.
Ø Use APA citation style and follow the prepared APA worksheet. 1 mark will be deducted for every APA error.
Ø Essay will need a concluding paragraph and attached reference page. The reference page needs to follow the APA rules for a reference page.
Ø Title page will include the following: instructor’s name, your name, student number, level of English and English course code, the title of project (Career Research Essay) and due date. Also, please use Times New Roman Font size 12 for this essay.
Ø Once the essay’s research hypothesis has been reviewed and determined, students have three weeks to finalize and hand in project.
Ø High marks will be given for how a student effectively uses APA and how a student bridges, strengthens and links his/her thoughts in relation to the citations used.
