Final Project: Design a Program to Serve Infants or Toddlers or Both
Rationale Professionals working with Infants and Toddlers must have a solid grasp of child development. They must recognize that relationships with families are essential to promoting development and learning.
Directions: Using content from this course, you will design a program to serve either infants or toddlers or both. For your project, you need to:
1. Identify the age group and the number of children the program will serve. Discuss the general development and needs of the children of the age group being served. Be sure to check CT licensing and NAEYC recommendations. Include information about the adult-child ratio. Use the Caring for Infants and Toddlers in Early Care and Education (I/T) as a guide.
5. Create daily plans for one week. Include at least one activity per day for each domain, Physical, Cognitive, Social-Emotional, Language, and Literacy, and Creative Arts. If your program includes multiple ages be sure to plan for all ages. Use the CTELDS to help you plan.
6. Discuss your plan for Involving families and communities in young children’s development and learning. How will diverse community and family characteristics be reflected in the program?
7. Describe your plan for using observing, documenting, and assessment to promote positive outcomes for each child, including the use of assistive technology for children with disabilities. Describe assessment partnerships with families and with professional colleagues to build effective learning environments.
