PURPOSE
The purpose of this assignment is for students to learn about the evidence-based process for speech-language pathologists by formulating a PICO question, researching an area of interest in the field, and summarizing what was learned.
ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS
Each student will formulate a PICO (population, intervention, comparison, outcome) question and read one research article based on their question. Students will answer the following questions by completing the template provided that includes the following information:
● List all four components of their individual PICO question (10 points)
● Write the PICO question in a complete sentence (10 points)
● Describe three facts that were learned from the research article (20 points)
● Describe two ways that evidence-based practice can impact your career in the future (20 points)
● Reflect on the process/experience of completing an EBP search (20 points)
● Cite article in APA format (10 points)
● Use of grammar and mechanics (10 points)
GRADING
Students will be graded on the following:
20% Listing component of PICO question and writing out question
60% Content of the written response
20% Grammar/Mechanics/Citation
