Your research for this course will be to conduct a review of the literature exploring details of a psychological disorder e.g. neuro-developmental, behavioral and emotional, trauma and stressor-related, and health-related disorders. Refer to the attached list. In addition, you will also explore other areas, including treatment modality for that disorder.
This information you will submit in a 4-6-page paper (not including the cover and reference pages) in APA style.
Research Paper due: Week 11,Thursday, March 23, 2023.
The purpose of this assignment is to enable you to use your knowledge, as well as, research new and relevant information of psychological disorder that will offer important information to your peers about aspects of a specific disorder.
To assist you in successfully completing this assignment you will use the attached questions found here to guide your research.
Psychological Disorder Research Questions*
Sources must be cited for all questions. In addition, information must come from crediblesources, preferably from peer-reviewed journals
1. What psychological disorder are you researching?
2. What is the definition of your disorder? What might be physical/noticeable characteristics ofthis disorder?
3. What are potential risk factors that may lead to this illness – “causes” of the illness? Are therecertain “types” of people who are prone to this illness and if so, why? (Source)
4. What are prevention suggestions and strategies pertaining to this illness? (Hint: Look at riskfactors/causes, can you prevent the severity of the disorder, can you prolong the age of onset,etc.)
5. What are the common warning signs/symptoms that may lead you to believe someone may besuffering from this disorder?
6. How is this illness specifically treated (medication name, symptoms treated, etc.)? Is it curable?How?
7. What is the science behind this illness? What does the research say about the physiology or thepsychology of this disorder – what’s going on inside the body to cause this?
8. How can you help a friend who may be suffering from this disorder?
9. List at least 5 statistics pertaining to your illness. (National, state, city, school, etc., how manypeople this illness affects, teenage stats vs. adult stats, men vs. women, differences betweenraces, etc.)
10. What are common myths and the respective facts pertaining to your disorder?
11. List four or more specific resources that could help in dealing with this disorder (Nationalresources such as organizations, hotlines, websites, etc., as well as community resources such aslocal support groups, organizations, specific counselors/trusted adults in the area, medicalpersonnel, etc.)
