Choose an ecological phenomenon, problem, or solution to research. You may NOT choose the same topic as another person in the class.
Research your topic and write a paper. The paper must be at least 3 to 5 pages long and follow MLA formatting. View this link for assistance with formatting: MLA Style Guide Links to an external site.
The paper must be at least 2 to 3 pages in length and include at least 3 relevant pictures that are labeled with captions.
As a general rule, your research must be accurate, thorough, and supported by credible in-text citations, as well as a works cited page. Use the points below as a starting point for your research. This is NOT an exhaustive list but merely some ideas to get your creative juices flowing. Not all questions will apply to each person’s chosen topic.
What is the problem? How do we know there is a problem (what evidence is there)?
What causes the problem? Be VERY specific!
What are the possible future effects of the problem? How will it affect the local ecosystem? The continent? The world?
What is being done to solve the problem? Are there laws related to the topic? What are the specifics of the laws? What are the consequences for breaking the laws?
What can an individual person to do help the problem? What can cities, communities, and countries do to help the problem?
What is your topic a solution to? Why is this solution needed?
How does your solution specifically work?
What are the pros and cons of your solution?
What current research is being done to further develop your solution?
Is your solution cost effective? Why or why not?
