Read the following website, which is Chapter II of Caesar’s Conquest of Gaul (Links to an external site.). (pp. 26-46)
Julius Caesar used his Conquest of Gaul to persuade Roman citizens. Explain how this account is a work of propaganda. That is your thesis. You then need to make sure that you underline that thesis statement. Then use examples and analysis of those examples to prove your thesis. These questions should help you form that argument: How Caesar portrays himself? Why does he portray his actions the way he does? He is writing this for the people back in Rome, how does that affect the way he presents his role in Gaul? Why does he refer to himself in the third person? (300 word minimum.)
