Imagine that your chocolate company, Sweet Eats, has grown large enough to require your designing a formal organizational structure.
Read two cases in the next slide and suggest a structure which would be most effective for each case.
You may suggest structures individually or work collectively using a collaboration tool (e.g., Google Doc or Slides) and attach agreed structures on the discussion board.
Case 1) Assume that you have 250 employees organized around different mechanized manufacturing lines. One line makes chocolate lollipops, one makes chocolate bars, and one makes small bags of candy-covered chocolates. Draw an organizational chart to show the organizational structure you would design for this situation and describe why you chose that organizational structure.
Case 2) Now assume that your 250-employee chocolate company is designed around several handmade specialty products made in small batches by work teams. Orders tend to come from companies and individuals wanting to purchase custom, high-quality chocolates for corporate events and weddings. Draw an organizational chart for this situation and describe why you designed the company this way.
