1. Outline a mock web homepage about the car brand Land Rover. Write two to three paragraphs optimized for the Web. What other elements would you include on this mock Web homepage that is relevant to the brand? Be creative!
2. Visit these three different popular brands websites:
Brand 1 – Apple [ www.apple.com ]
Brand 2 – Ray Ban [ www.ray-ban.com ]
Brand 3 – The North Face [ www.thenorthface.com ]
Review the three websites. Identify what you think are elements of good design. Did you see any elements of bad design? If so, how do you think those elements could be improved?
For Question #1, in the “outline” portion for question #1, basically, you would want to verbally explain the elements and structure of your homepage for Land Rover. For example, what information is critical and needs to be presented, what images will you present, and in what ways will you make it engaging, easy to use, and “sticky”? You can basically explain your design for what your home page would look like for Land Rover.
Then, as Question #1 further requires, write 2-3 paragraphs optimized for the web that drives traffic to the homepage that you just described. Basically, write 2-3 paragraphs that would be on the website that would help drive traffic to your site when people search for you.
For Question #2, for each brand answer, the following: (1) identify what you think are elements of good design (2) did you see any elements of bad design? and (3) if so, how do you think those elements could be improved?
