This assignment is designed to address SLO 1: Identify key ideas, representative authors and works, significant historical or cultural events, and characteristic perspectives or attitudes expressed in the literature of different periods or regions.
The Word Bank Journal should help you gain additional and relevant vocabulary by conducting casual research to define key terms regarding literary, personal, and historical background information related to the authors and texts we will be reading. Be sure to use the author names and titles of the works in your search to ensure your definitions and key ideas for each term help you gain a deeper meaning of the literature we are exploring. For this first one, use Beowulf, and Gawain.
For this first entry be sure to follow these steps with the words above:
Open a Word or Google doc and type your MLA heading in the left corner
Insert pagination with your last name to the top right corner
Title your document: Word Bank Entry 1
Each word requires 1-6 sentences that either defines or explains the importance of the term in order to gain a better understanding of the texts we are reading and the ideas and themes being explored.
You can use the internet, library resources, the wikipages in this course, and the textbook to find your definitions and/or explanations. Just be sure you are using a reliable source.
