General Requirements for Written Assignments
• Submit assignments as DOC or DOCX files.
• All work will be typed in 12-point font, Times New Roman, one page, single-spaced, with 1” margins on all four sides. The top left-hand corner of the first page of every document (not the header and not subsequent pages) should include the student’s name, the assignment, and the date, all single-spaced. All work employing sources should employ MLA citation style. Work that does not conform to this standard or is short of the required page limit will have points deducted.

One way to see how South Carolina promotes itself to contemporary audiences is to consider the programs available on SCETV, the state’s public education broadcasting service, with a presence on the radio, television, and the web.
A web-based series, ETV Shorts, purports to highlight stories from around the state as a means to promote people and places in South Carolina to both residents and visitors. As you browse and view sample shorts (which may be easier at their YouTube page than their site linked above), consider especially those dealing with South Carolina’s past. What would you add to the conversation?
After having browsed the alphabetical index of ETV Shorts and having viewed a significant sample, pitch an idea for a short to be produced. Your idea should be in keeping with the aims of the collection and should not already be represented in the archive of those already produced. Include in the post not only your idea for the subject, but also a suggestion of the visuals to be incorporated into your proposed short. Keep in mind, too, that a pitch needs to be entertaining and enticing.
