Final Class Assignment – “The One Work That Caught Your Attention”
As you know, the ART 1A class covers a vast range of material, starting with the Stone Age and concluding with Gothic Europe. For this final assignment, I’m asking you to do the following:
Find a single work from either the Boundless Art History (OER) or the Gardner textbook. The work you select must be from Western Art, and from the periods that are part of the course, Art 1A. The work you select can be in any medium – that is, painting, sculpture, architecture, decorative arts, etc.
Provide the following information about the work you have selected: The artist’s name (if known), the title of the work (if known), and the work’s date and location (again, if known).
Describe the work in a succinct
written text. Provide specific information about the work, including its
function, if this is known; otherwise, you’re free to speculate.
Include a photograph – or a sketch – of the work.
Finally, briefly explain why you were drawn to this particular work.
Submission requirements:
Your submission should be
approximately 200-300 words. You are encouraged to exceed that, but you
must meet the minimum requirement.
