Often English language learner (ELL) students are either overlooked or overclassified when it comes to special education needs. This is partly due to teachers lack of understanding of what normal language progress is, and what is not normal or caused by a learning disability. In this task, you will investigate the ELL teachers role in determining whether to refer an ELL student for special education assessment. You will then use this information to develop tools for identifying students with problems and for documenting the process.
