In American Sociological Association format 5th edition
1. A concise review of the relevant literature on your problem statement on a topic of crime
category, criminality, corrections, recovery, victimology or crime type, and
2. Discuss and apply at least two types of applicable criminological theory related to the
topic, and
3. Compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of each theory based on your review
of the research literature. Explain how each theory has weaknesses that seem to not explain
your problem statement. Then explain how each theory may help solve your problem statement.
Finally explain how you may “integrate” the strengths of each theory to solve the issue.
4. In this assignment you are not simply reviewing or describing the criminality or the
theories employed for analysis; in addition you are to provide “thoughtful analysis” regarding the
topic.
5. A minimum of 8 professional peer reviewed Journal articles.
Use the Huie Library Electronic Databases EBSCOHost, JSTOR, etc., not
trade magazines, newspapers, etc. These are not academic sources and will
not be counted as one of the 8 articles. You may cite other types of
references in the Introduction of your paper to help gain attention and focus
on the criminal or social problem, but these references do not count toward
the total minimum number of references.
